Thanks to everyone who came to our lobby of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) meeting in Bury last Friday 27 October. We had a great show of support from GM Unison branches.
We were there to draw attention to GMPF’s holdings in fossil fuels – the highest by value and percent of any UK Local Government Pensions Scheme.
The GMCA meeting is attended by all 10 GM council leaders along with the GM Mayor and Deputy Mayor. We made sure that they heard our calls for the GM pension leaders to disinvest. We also managed to talk to several of the leaders as they arrived for the meeting, although there were a couple who apparently found us so scary that they ran straight past us!
Watch our for news of our next action at the GMPF Management Meeting in Droylsden on 1 December.
